The Hoffman Lab in the Biomedical Engineering Department at Duke University has an opening for a Postdoctoral Associate to study cell force generation in two- and three-dimensional cell culture systems. We seek to understand how microenvironmental conditions affect cellular force generation. We utilize Forster Resonance Energy (FRET)-based biosensors, high content imaging, automated image analysis, as well as standard approaches in cell and molecular biology and biomaterials. We offer an intellectually-stimulating, collaborative, and multidisciplinary research environment to do cutting edge research in mechanobiology, provide access to state of the art facilities, and support your career goals. Candidates with background knowledge in molecular cloning, FRET imaging, biomaterials formulation, biophysical models of biomolecules, design of molecular force sensors, and/or automated image analysis are particularly welcome. Candidates who can start immediately will be favored.

Requirements:

- A PhD (or equivalent) in biomedical engineering, biological sciences (i.e. cell and developmental biology), or a related field

- Strong research background in mechanobiology/biomechanics, high content imaging, biomaterials, and/or cell and molecular biology

- Evidence of successful completion of research projects (publications)

- Ability to work in dependently; interpret, present, and discuss experimental data

- Excellent communication skills
