| The MIT Department of Earth, Atmospheric and Planetary Sciences announces a major expansion of its activities in climate science and seeks applicants for up to four faculty positions in climate-related fields. These positions are in addition to an ongoing search in Atmospheric Chemistry. Preference will be given to junior appointments but a senior appointment can be considered for an individual with exceptional qualifications. Areas of specific interest include observations, models and theory of the atmosphere, ocean and cryosphere, past and present climates, biogeochemical cycles and ecology.
Requirements: The successful candidates will have to have a strong record of accomplishment in their discipline, a strong commitment to teaching and student advising, and a keen interest in relating their work to complementary research in the Department and in the MIT/Woods Hole Joint Program in Oceanography. Joint appointments with other MIT departments are also potentially negotiable where appropriate.
