| The Department of Physics at the University of Texas at El Paso (UTEP) invites applications for a tenure- track faculty position in experimental physics at the Assistant or Associate Professor level, depending on qualifications. Anticipated appointment date is fall 2010.
In response to UTEP’s vision of becoming the first national research university with a 21st century demographic, the Department of Physics is seeking to attract internationally recognized experts who will help us achieve that goal. The department seeks faculty with expertise in the investigation and development of novel optical tools for nanophysics and/or biomedical applications, or with experience in one or more of the following: thin-film nanofabrication, synthesis of inorganic nanostructures, organic and macromolecular synthesis, magnetic nanostructures, and biologic/biomedical nanosystems. Preference will be given to candidates who can foster interdisciplinary collaborations between physics, chemistry, biology, and engineering. Applicants with a proven record of successful external funding and outstanding research accomplishments will be given strong consideration. Responsibilities include teaching graduate and undergraduate courses in physics, and mentoring student research at all levels.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: A Ph.D. in physics or a closely related field, postdoctoral experience and a publication record is required.
APPLICATION PROCEDURES: Review of applications will begin in January and will continue until the position is filled. Candidates should send a letter of interest, curriculum vita, publication list, statement of research plans and teaching philosophy, and a list with names and contact information for at least three references. All materials should be sent by email (pdf attachments) to physics@utep.edu or by postal mail to:
