The School of Human Evolution and Social Change in the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences on the Tempe campus at Arizona State University invites applications for the position of Faculty Associate. The successful candidate will be expected to teach an undergraduate course on multivariate analysis for the social sciences that includes, but is not limited to, exploratory multivariate techniques such as factor analysis, cluster analysis, and principal components analysis.  This includes developing a new course, preparing course materials, evaluating student work, and holding office hours to assist students.

Faculty Associate positions are one semester, non-benefits-eligible, fixed‐term appointments with no tenure implications, not to exceed .40 FTE. Anticipated start date is December 2017.

Minimum qualifications:

  • Master's degree, in Anthropology, Epidemiology, Psychology, Sociology, Statistics or an appropriate discipline, at time of appointment
  • Evidence of teaching effectiveness in specialized courses
  • Prior teaching experience in a post-secondary environment

Desired qualifications:

  • Terminal degree in Anthropology, Epidemiology, Psychology, Sociology, Statistics or an appropriate discipline, at time of appointment
  • Experience and sensitivity to working with diverse students
  • Experience working in collaborative environments within and across disciplines
  • Experience teaching in Blackboard (online learning management system)
  • Demonstrated success meeting the needs of diverse student populations and/or reaching out to diverse communities
