Applications are invited for post-doctoral positions at the Mandelstam Institute for Theoretical Physics at the University of the Witwatersrand in Johannesburg, South Africa.

The following post-doctoral positions are available.

* Starting in October 2018, we have a two year post-doctoral appointment in condensed matter theory supported by the National Institute for Theoretical Physics.

* Starting in October 2018, we have a three year post-doctoral appointment joint with the string group at the International Centre for Theoretical Sciences, Bengaluru, funded by the Simons Foundation's Targeted Grants to Institutes.

* Starting in January 2019, we have two year positions in high energy theoretical physics, one of which is joint with the string group at Queen Mary, University of London. Applicants should have obtained a Ph.D. within the last five years.

* Starting in 2018, there are additional two or three year positions in any area of high energy theoretical physics. These positions are joint with South China Normal University, Guangzhou. Applicants should be less than 35 years of age at the time the appointment commences.

Applicants must have a track record of accomplishment and independence in their research. Members of the Mandelstam Institute work on topics in condensed matter theory, string theory, quantum field theory, particle phenomenology, and theoretical cosmology.
