*** The account for Electrical and Computer Engineering/Physics, Purdue University has expired, and no new applications is accepted. ***

The Zubin Jacob Research Group (www.zjresearchgroup.org) works at the interface of quantum optics and material science. Broadly, candidates with a background in quantum optics, computational nanophotonics, quantum electrodynamics and/or condensed matter physics will be an ideal fit for the group. The group is based out of an inter-disciplinary Nanotechnology Center within the School of Electrical and Computer Engineering, Purdue University, Indiana USA. Some of our recent theoretical achievements include

1) Universal spin-momentum locking of light 2) Proposal of quantum gyro-electric phase of matter 3) Role of photon spin in non-local topological electromagnetic phases of matter 4) Super-Coulombic Dipole-Dipole Interactions in Metamaterials 5) Proposal of Quantum Critical Detectors

This position is for a candidate broadly in the field of Computational Physics. Expertise in any one of the following areas is expected

1) Computational Condensed Matter Physics 2) Computational Quantum optics, Quantum trajectories, Noise and quantum dynamics of two level atoms, Master equation approaches, Quantum noise and/or open quantum systems 3) Computational Nanophotonics, Green’s functions, Metasurfaces 4) Monte Carlo simulations 5) Boltzmann Transport equations (electrons or photons) 6) Radiative transfer equation, Disordered Media 7) Simulations of Many-body phenomena, Tensor Networks, Matrix Product States 8) Machine learning 9) Computational Imaging

The group is very unique since it also has an experimental laboratory to test out theoretical predictions. We collaborate extensively with experimentalists. Expect to engage very closely with the PI in a fruitful + stimulating environment with one-on-one discussions as well as multiple weekly group meetings.
