Position Description:    

The Department of International Studies at the University of Oregon invites applications for temporary, part-time, limited-duration teaching positions with the possibility of renewal for up to three years depending on need, funding and performance. Applications will be accepted on a continuous basis, and the pool will remain active for one year. Screening of applicants will take place as early as November 1st for positions beginning winter term, and will continue as other positions become available. Minimum degree requirement of a Masters; Ph.D. preferred, in social sciences or related field. Current needs for winter term 2012 are: Culture, Capitalism, and Globalization, the culture of capitalism and the cultural dimensions of globalization; Global Media and Social Networking, new media tools and the potential for global media and social networking to affect social change, generate new hierarchies, and their cross-cultural and local meanings; and Indigenous Cultural Survival, explores case studies of indigenous peoples facing cultural and complex survival issues. Spring term 2012 needs are: Development and the Muslim World, discourse on development concerns in various Muslim societies; and Development and Social Change in Sub-Saharan Africa.
