The Department of Physics and Astronomy at Uppsala University, Sweden invites applications for a two-year postdoctoral position in theoretical particle physics starting September 1, 2019. The position can also be started immediately if so desired.

The project is focused on the physics of extended Higgs sectors beyond the Standard Model and related areas, and in particular considering the connection between the scalar sector and the electroweak phase transition in the early universe, and various phenomenological aspects of this.

The senior members of the HEP theory group are Rikard Enberg, Gunnar Ingelman and Stefan Leupold, and an additional associate professor is currently under recruitment. There is also a large hep-th theory group in the department, and experimental groups in ATLAS and IceCube. See http://www.physics.uu.se for more information about the department and this link for more information about the theory group.

The successful candidate will be appointed for two years, and the position is financed by a grant from the Carl Trygger Foundation that consists of a scholarship that will be paid directly to the postdoctoral fellow by the foundation. There are also travel funds.

The candidate must have a doctoral degree in Physics or equivalent. Advanced theoretical physics, in particular quantum field theory, particle physics and programming skills of relevance to the subject matter are required, as well as some experience of physics beyond the Standard Model, collider phenomenology, or early universe cosmology such as the physics of phase transitions. Proficiency in written and spoken English is necessary.

Uppsala University aims for gender balance and diversity in all activities. We therefore welcome applicants of any gender and with different birth background, functionality and life experience.
