Research Assistant/Associate
Theoretical Physics Group, Department of Physics, Imperial College London

Fixed Term: 2 years available from 1st October 2019 

Job Summary
Applications are invited for a Research Assistant/Associate position in the Theoretical Physics Group of the Department of Physics at Imperial College London. The position is funded by an STFC Consolidated Grant. You will work with members of the Theoretical Physics Group and will also interact with other members of the Physics Department.

Duties and responsibilities
You will contribute to independent and original research, submit publications to refereed journals and assist with the administration of the Research Group and provide support to the research students. This project will involve a high degree of teamwork and interdisciplinary research.

Essential Criteria
For Research Assistant post you will be about to complete a PhD and for the Research Associate post you will already have a PhD in Theoretical Physics or an equivalent level of professional qualifications and experience. 

In addition, you must also be able to demonstrate all the following essential criteria:
  • Research experience in theoretical topics in the following areas; cosmology, quantum field theory, effective field theory, cosmic microwave background, and gravitational waves. 
  • Evidence of outstanding promise and originality in research, demonstrated by a good publication record, commensurate with your career stage
Further Information
This is a fixed term position available for two years, with a possibility of extension, subject to funding.
Research Associate maximum salary on appointment will be up to £42,065 per annum.
Candidates who have not yet been officially awarded their PhD will be appointed as Research Assistant within the salary range £33,380 - £35,061 per annum.
