The Women’s Studies Program at Colgate University invites applications for a one-year visiting assistant professor position in feminist theory beginning fall semester 2019. The Women’s Studies Department is seeking candidates who will teach gender studies courses at both the introductory and upper division level. Colgate strives to be a community supportive of diverse perspectives and identities. Teaching and research specialization in one or more of the following fields is preferred: Intersectional feminist theories, Black feminist theories, or Indigenous feminisms.

Completion of Ph.D. in Feminist Studies, Women’s Studies, Gender Studies, or a related field is expected prior to the date of hire. ABDs who apply must show evidence that the degree will be completed by the appointment date. Prior teaching experience required. Ideal candidates will be able to teach electives in their areas of specialization as well as Introduction to Women’s Studies, which explores gender in tandem with race, ethnicity, class, religion, sexuality, and other markers of identity as they intersect in oppression, patriarchy, and social change.
