Position Description:    

The Department of Educational Studies at Colgate University invites applications for one or more one-year Visiting Assistant Professor positions in Foundations of Education beginning Fall semester 2019. Completion of Ph.D. is expected prior to or shortly after the date of hire. The Department of Educational Studies is committed to cultivating students’ critical understanding of power and privilege. Our faculty provide a breadth of course offerings to students interested in studying education broadly, including students who are interested in gaining political, social, and cultural understandings of larger educational phenomena and students planning a career in teaching. The ideal candidate will have a strong interdisciplinary background in foundations of education and will be able to teach our introductory class (“The American School”) as well as upper-level courses based on the candidate’s research and teaching interests. We will pay particular attention to candidates who work in the following subfields of Educational Studies: Critical Global and Development Studies; Critical Indigenous Studies; DisCrit Theory and Methodology; Latinx Studies; Queer of Color Critique; and/or Women of Color Feminist Epistemologies and Pedagogies. The successful candidate may also be invited to participate in all-university programs, including the Liberal Arts Core Curriculum.
