Position Description:

The Neutrino Physics and Astrophysics Group (GEFAN) at the University of Campinas (UNICAMP)is seeking a candidate for one postdoctoral position, to work with neutrino physics. The group is active on both long and short-baseline neutrino experiments, including LArIAT, SBND, ProtoDUNE, and DUNE, with responsibilities varying from hardware R&D to data analyses. The successful applicant will develop Monte Carlo, event reconstruction, and detector calibration techniques for LArTPC technology, relying on the ProtoDUNE detector data and computing framework for conducting their research. In addition, the group is interested in commissioning a ProtoDUNE remote operation center at UNICAMP, which is fundamental for future data taking periods. The candidate is also expected to lead this effort.

The GEFAN group has six researchers working on the neutrino physics: Ernesto Kemp, Ettore Segreto, Ana Machado, Orlando Peres, Marcelo Guzzo, Pedro de Holanda, and several Master and Ph.D. students. The University of Campinas (UNICAMP) is a public university in the State of São Paulo. It is one of the top ranking Brazilian universities as well as in Latin America. The fellowship is provided by the Fundação de Amparo à Pesquisa do Estado de São Paulo (FAPESP, http://www.fapesp.br/en/5385) which is a public foundation located in São Paulo, Brazil. The FAPESP postdoctoral fellowship is tax-free with an annual value of R$ 88,477 Brazilian reais (at the current rate, 1 US dollar is approximately 3.92 Brazilian Reais). Moving and installation expenses will be reimbursed, including the airfare and one additional monthly fellowship for installation. The fellowship includes a grant for travel and research expenses of R$ 12,274 Brazilian Reais per year.

The positions are for a period of up to 2 years, with the potential for extension for up to two additional years.

Required qualifications:

- A Ph.D. in particle physics, or relevant subject by the time of the appointment

- A strong record of accomplishments in experimental particle physics

- Strong computing skills, including experience with ROOT, C++, and Python

- Experience with reconstruction techniques: particle tracks, energy, and particle identification

- Experience with Monte Carlo simulation Preferred qualifications:

- Solid understanding of data acquisition systems - Experience with integration between different simulation packages, specifically those for cosmic rays generation (CORSIKA, CRY) and detector simulations (GEANT4, or dedicated software for large detectors).

- Experience with the Fermilab ART Framework - Experience with parallel computing

Interested candidates should submit via Academic Jobs Online, addressed to Prof. Ernesto Kemp,
