*** The account for Department of Physics, Carnegie Mellon University has expired, and no new applications will be accepted. ***

The Department of Physics at Carnegie Mellon University invites applications for McWilliams Postdoctoral Fellowships in Cosmology. McWilliams Fellows are expected to carry out their own program of original research, independently or in collaboration with Carnegie Mellon faculty, postdoctoral fellows, and students.

McWilliams Postdoctoral Fellowships are part of the McWilliams Center for Cosmology at Carnegie Mellon (website http://www.cmu.edu/cosmology). The McWilliams Center synergizes research of the Carnegie Mellon Departments of Physics, Computer Science and Statistics, and benefits as well from the nearby Pittsburgh Supercomputing Center and the University of Pittsburgh Physics and Astronomy Department. The growth of the Center since it began in 2008 involved faculty hires, multiple McWilliams Postdoctoral Fellows, and large computing facilities. Carnegie Mellon faculty participate, including in leadership roles, in multiple sky surveys. We welcome applications from researches in astrophysics broadly, while particularly encouraging applications from candidates whose research is in the areas of compact binary formation, gravitational-wave astronomy, or stellar dynamics. We hope to hire more than one McWilliams Postdoctoral Fellow from this search.

Appointments are for 2 years, with renewal for a third year likely, contingent upon satisfactory progress. The position comes with a competitive salary, an annual research budget, health benefits, and relocation expenses.

The anticipated starting date is September 2020. Candidates should submit a curriculum vitae, publication list, statement of research plans, and arrange for three letters of recommendation to be sent to Interfolio.
