The Department of Biological Sciences at Benedictine University seeks applicants for a fulltime, non-tenure track faculty position for the spring 2020 academic term beginning January 3, 2020, and ending May 31, 2020.   To carry out our comprehensive mission, we seek faculty with the desire and ability to successfully engage students as they launch or continue their intellectual journey. The instructor will have the opportunity to teach a variety of college-level biology courses and laboratories. The successful candidate should be able to work with students from a wide range of academic preparedness levels. The normal teaching load is 15 contact hours per semester.

 

Essential Functions:

• Provide engaging, enthusiastic, and student-centered teaching to students

• Establish a professional classroom atmosphere that encourages mutual respect and civil engagement

• Support course and program assessment

• Contribute to departmental, campus and college efforts to ensure student success

• Promote the philosophy, mission, and vision of Benedictine University

• Establish productive and supportive communication with students

• Be organized and conduct classes in accordance with the published class schedule

• Evaluate student progress through regularly scheduled assessments/exams and prompt return of grade results

• Maintain a required office schedule

• Assist in curriculum development as necessary

Required Qualifications: Candidates must have 3-5 years of related work experience, teaching experience, and a minimum of a Master's degree in a biology field, Ph.D. in a biology field preferred.
