Chapman University’s graduate program in Physician Assistant Studies seeks applications for two Clinical Assistant/Associate Professors beginning in Spring 2020.

The Physician Assistant Studies graduate program is located on the Chapman University Rinker Health Science Campus in Irvine, California. The Rinker Campus designed to foster an inter-professional educational environment and to use cutting-edge technology in teaching and practice. Chapman University has made significant infrastructure investments focused on state-of-the-art facilities and equipment including human cadaver anatomy laboratory, advanced learning center with innovative technology, Grand Rounds Auditorium, multi-sized classrooms, conference rooms, and inter-professional, collaborative centers. The campus is home to several current accredited, graduate health science professional programs, including Doctor of Physical Therapy, Master of Science in Communication Sciences and Disorders, and the Doctor of Pharmacy.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications
Graduate of a fully accredited PA, MD, or DO Program. Eligibility for California licensure as a PA, MD, or DO. PAs must have Master’s degree or higher, and active NCCPA certification. Candidates must have 2 or more years of direct patient care experience.

Desired Qualifications
Preference will be given to candidates who also hold a second graduate degree such as PhD, Ed.D., DHsc, MPH, M.S., or other graduate degree that would complement the PA program. Experience teaching in medical or higher education, inter-professional education, and incorporating technology into teaching and professional practice is highly desirable. Preference will be given to candidates who have experience and are proficient in hands on clinical skills.

Responsibilities

Teach and direct course(s) in area(s) of medical expertise and knowledge, create course syllabi, assist in curriculum development and assessment in medical modules such as Cardiology, Neurology, Gastroenterology, etc.

Maintain clinical competency, participate in inter-professional education experiences, assist in clinical site recruitment and maintenance, and provide assistance to clinical year team.

Participate in admissions process, University and community service, and ongoing program accreditation, evaluations, assessment, and improvement.

Participate in student society within program, and, any other tasks/responsibilities as directed by the Program Director and/or Dean of Crean College of Health & Behavioral Sciences.
