| The Particle Physics and Astrophysics Directorate at the SLAC National Accelerator Laboratory (SLAC)seeks a Project Scientist to work on the ATLAS Experiment at the LHC. The successful candidate will participate in various activities related to data
acquisition, detector read-out and trigger that the SLAC group is involved in. The involvement will include both near-term and long-term oriented projects of future ATLAS upgrades. The candidate is expected to make substantial contributions in these areas as well as to take on leading roles in the commissioning and initial operations of the upgraded systems.
Candidates are required to have a Ph.D. in experimental physics or equivalent, with a strong background in instrumentation, and demonstrated achievements in the development, commissioning or operation of HEP experiments. Experiences with operational responsibilities are desirable.
The position is for a fixed term of three years with the possibility of renewal up to a total of five years depending on project needs. The candidate is expected to be resident at CERN for most or all of this term, with occasional trips to SLAC as needed.
