Position Description:

The Program in Molecular Medicine, University of Massachusetts Medical School ( is seeking an outstanding individual for a full-time, non-tenure track faculty member at the Assistant Professor level.

The ideal candidates will possess the following qualifications:

- Candidate will have successfully completed postdoctoral work that has resulted in publications of papers in peer reviewed journals in the fields of viral genetics and viral replication, ideally studies of exogenous and endogenous retroviruses, HIV-1, and other human pathogenic viruses such as influenza or Ebola.

- Candidate will have demonstrated the ability to teach in the laboratory setting (graduate students, postdoctoral trainees, and staff) and/or through the successful presentation of seminars and talks at international meetings.

- Candidate will have demonstrated the ability and commitment to write and submit competitive grant applications as PI or co-investigator.

- Candidate will have significant experience with cloning, sequencing, protein production, and experience with structure determination by cryo-EM.

- Candidate will have "state-of=the-art" knowledge of high-throughput molecular biology technologies.

- Candidate will have to have the deep knowledge and clear vision necessary to approach scientific challenges.

- Candidate must have well-developed analytical and problem-solving skills.

- Candidate must have a high degree of self-motivation and capability of working independently.

- Candidate must have strong oral and written communication skills together with interpersonal skills including demonstrated ability to work together with groups of investigators having diverse expertise.
