| High-energy X-ray Project Scientist at CHESS
The Cornell High-Energy Synchrotron Source (CHESS) in Ithaca, New York, USA has an opening for a scientist (Research Associate) to help develop a new experimental beamline and end-station capability for high-energy x-ray diffraction studies of engineering materials. The successful candidate will help upgrade existing facilities and build new experimental equipment, develop an experimental program using this facility as well as assist a beamline scientist supporting visiting researchers. The successful candidate is expected to have demonstrated ability to carry out a personal research program and establish diverse scientific collaborations. Candidates must show a strong record of hands-on experience in building and maintaining x-ray based experimental instruments and for x-ray data collection and analysis. A PhD in any area of physical sciences, and at least 2 years of post-PhD experimental experience is required. A solid publication record, fluency in the English language, and excellent communication skills are essential. This project appointment is for two years and may be renewable subject to satisfactory performance and availability of funds.
