Postdoctoral Associate

Intergroup Relations, Personality and Well-Being

The Department of Human Development in the College of Human Ecology at Cornell University is seeking a Postdoctoral Associate for up to a 3-year period beginning summer 2020. The successful candidate will work on a currently funded study investigating the value of youth-driven learning on positive youth development. Despite a substantial and growing research literature on curiosity, resilience, and purpose in life, there remain a small number of viable interventions to enhance these strengths. We believe that we found a comprehensive psychological intervention that can enhance strength development from adolescence to adulthood: GripTape ( Our lab is collaborating with the Wellbeing Lab ( directed by Dr. Todd Kashdan at George Mason University to conduct a program evaluation on the effectiveness of the GripTape intervention, and the underlying mechanisms that account for positive outcomes. Through a series of projects over the next three years, we intend to clarify precisely why GripTape works, for whom, and what psychological and social factors optimize its impact. For this project, we will conduct sound interdisciplinary research to ensure that our science informs organizations, public policy, education, and is communicated to the general public.

The successful applicant will work collaboratively to design studies, oversee data collection, management, and analysis, disseminate findings in scientific journals and conferences, and assist in the mentorship of graduate students to do all of the above. Applicants should have the following qualifications:

·         Ph.D. in psychology, or closely-related field.

·         Demonstrated statistical expertise and experience with computer programming and R is preferred. Applicants should be able to lead data analyses and train other members of the lab.
