Immediate availability for a Postdoctoral position at the University of Massachusetts Medical School in Worcester, MA.
The position is supported by two newly funded RO1s for studies in TB. The first is a collaborative project with Dr. Amit Singhal (A*STAR, Singapore Immunology Network) investigating TB immunometabolism and mechanisms of the protective efficacy of metformin as host-directed therapy in the mouse aerosol model. The second is a prospective observational study investigating the diabetogenic effects of pulmonary TB in adults, in collaboration with Dr. Matthew Magee (Emory). For the clinical study, our lab will receive adipose tissue biopsy samples for histopathology, immunohistochemistry, and gene expression analysis.
Candidates should have a Ph.D. or equivalent degree in Immunology or Molecular and Cellular Biology, and expertise working with transgenic and knockout mice; using flow cytometry to dissect immune functions, and basic biochemistry and molecular biology techniques. Candidates having experience working with Mycobacterium tuberculosis at BSL-3/ABSL-3, metabolic flux analysis, and/or gene expression analysis are preferred.
