Research Associate in Arabic Language Durham, North Carolina
The Department of Asian and Middle Eastern Studies at Duke University in Durham, North Carolina invites applications for a Research Associate in the Arabic language that is passionate about the intersection between US politics, race, and religion. This research assistant must be willing to look into the history of slavery through both local and global lenses as we work on documenting local Muslim history, African connections and the Omar ibn Sayyid project. Background knowledge of Morocco, West Africa and North Carolina is needed, and intermediate level Arabic is necessary.
Responsibilities:
- contribute to research efforts about Omar ibn Sayyid, local manifestations of Islam, and anti- blackness in the US and Arab world
- conduct assigned interviews, do editing of collected materials
- publish content to our website
- review and edit as required.
