College Overview: The College of Engineering offers 14 undergraduate and 13 graduate programs in 12 departments or centers, as well as, three undergraduate and four graduate degrees in the Knowlton School of Architecture, to approximately 10,000 students. The college has recently expanded its degree offerings with a BS in Engineering Technology available on the regional campuses of the university. The college is one of the largest in the field with 405 faculty. The college has 14 National Academy of Engineering members and numerous members of societies and award recipients. In fiscal year 2020, the college had nearly $138.5 million in externally sponsored research expenditures. Industry R&D expenditures for the College of Engineering in fiscal year 2020 totaled nearly $44 million.

Department Overview: The Department of Engineering Education (EED) is located within the College of Engineering at The Ohio State University. The EED’s mission includes advancing the engineering profession and enabling student success by:

· Contributing to developing world-class scholarship in engineering education

· Modeling and advocating scholarly, evidence-based teaching within the College of Engineering

· Developing and delivering state-of-the-art, innovative, multidisciplinary courses and programs in first-year engineering, engineering technical communication, multidisciplinary capstone design, and graduate education in engineering education.

The EED was created in November 2015 and the Ph.D. program was approved in Spring 2018. In Autumn 2021, approximately 25 graduate students will be enrolled in the engineering education doctoral program. Looking towards the future, the EED is positioned to grow and establish stronger connections across the College of Engineering and the field.

TIU/Position Overview: We invite applications for a tenure-track/tenured faculty position at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor to start August 2022. We are seeking an innovative scholar in engineering education and/or computing education who will help further build our department. This Assistant or Associate Professor will be required to establish a research program, secure outside funding, advise graduate students within our engineering education Ph.D. program, and teach courses across the department including our first-year engineering program. This individual will be encouraged to engage with the department across the various programmatic areas (Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion; Multidisciplinary Capstone / IBE; Graduate Studies and Research; Engineering Technical Communications; Fundamentals of Engineering – Honors; Fundamentals of Engineering - Traditional) through their work and will have opportunities to innovate and elevate our growing department.

Required Qualifications:

· Ph.D. or terminal degree in an engineering discipline, computing discipline, computing education, engineering education, education, or equivalent field from an accredited institution of higher education

· Established record of conducting and publishing research (venues may include, but are not limited to, journals, conferences papers, or editorials) in innovative and influential areas of engineering education and/or computing education research

· Experience teaching in a formal learning setting including, but not limited to, K-12 classroom experience or higher education teaching as an instructor of record or graduate teaching assistant

· Demonstrated commitment to equity in the context of engineering education/computing education promoting an organizational climate that values diversity and inclusion

· Demonstrated commitment and capability to mentor diverse undergraduate and/or graduate students

· Demonstrated service that has contributed to growing the field of engineering education

Desired Qualifications:

· Evidence of successful collaboration with others, including staff, students, instructors, and both tenure-track and non-tenure-track faculty members from different disciplines

· Demonstrated commitment and capabilities to mentor diverse early-career faculty in engineering education

· Established record of securing external funding for research and/or graduate students

· Demonstrated leadership abilities

· Commitment to engaging actively with other engineering and/or computing departments and colleges across The Ohio State University
