Research Scientist
A Research Scientist position is available in the new laboratory of Professor Mikhail Nikiforov at the Department of Pathology and Biomedical Engineering at Duke University, Durham, NC starting in January 2022.
The Research Scientist position uses fundamental concepts and practices to perform scientific research tasks requiring application of established techniques, procedures, and criteria. Position will have supervisory responsibility of technicians, post-doctoral fellows, and graduate students.
Responsibilities:
1. Performs routine and highly specialized laboratory tests for specific research projects.
2. Performs and devises specialized tests and research procedures, troubleshooting problems with
their own and other researchers' results.
3. Provides input to the overall research design, evaluate research data, and initiate alternative
approaches to improve quality of the results.
4. Evaluates the quality of research outcomes and ensure that all laboratory procedures are
performed properly.
5. Trains and provides guidance to technicians, interns, and researchers in specialized procedures,
use of equipment, and theoretical basis of unique tests.
6. Prepares articles, manuscripts, reports, and documents that relate to projects.
