Computer Science & Software Engineering: Multiple Assistant/Associate Teaching Professors (non tenure-track position) to teach undergraduate courses as early as Spring Semester 2022. While the position is not tenurable, it is renewable, and there are opportunities for promotions that include longer-term contracts. Responsibilities include teaching foundational courses in computer science, software engineering, and cybersecurity; advising undergraduate students; and providing professional service to the department, college, and institution.

The Department of Computer Science and Software Engineering offers undergraduate Bachelor of Science degrees in computer science and in software engineering. A Master of Science in Computer Science degree is currently the highest degree program offered by the department. Current plans call for the establishment of a Center for cybersecurity research and education through which the department will offer undergraduate and graduate degrees in cybersecurity. A Bachelor of Arts in computer science curriculum is in the approval process. The total number of undergraduate majors is approximately 850, while about 40 students are enrolled in the master’s program. Average class size is in the low thirties. The department’s faculty is comprised of 16 tenured or tenure-track faculty members, six teaching faculty, and eight visiting faculty.

Required: For appointment as an Assistant Teaching Professor, applicants must have a Ph.D. in computer science, software engineering, computer engineering, cybersecurity or a closely related field by date of appointment. To be appointed to Associate rank, the candidate must have three or more years of full-time higher education teaching experience in computer science or software engineering.

Consideration may be given to candidates with extensive experience in computing or prior teaching experience at the college level who can document excellence in the classroom.
