The School of Visual Studies (SVS) invites applications for a full time, ranked, non-tenure track, Assistant Teaching Professor in the Film Studies Production Program at the University of Missouri starting Fall 2022. The school seeks a creative filmmaker with a significant record of creative activity and teaching experience in the field. Candidates should be fully conversant with digital production tools and have experience teaching undergraduate courses in two or more areas of video production.

The successful candidate will possess a demonstrated excellence in film production, the ability to engage productively with students at all skill levels, and a commitment to developing a vibrant video production curriculum within the context of a large state university. The candidate must be able to teach introductory through advanced production classes in filmmaking. The candidate must be able to teach in two or more of these areas: field production, cinematography, directing, audio production, pre- and post-production, screenwriting, and story development.

Duties include teaching three courses per semester (6 per academic year) and working with the SVS director and film studies program coordinator to expand film offerings and to strengthen collaborations with local and national production companies, the True/False Film Festival, and other areas of film and digital media production at the University of Missouri. These include the Jonathan B. Murray Center for Documentary Journalism, the SVS Digital Storytelling Program, and the IT Program in Entertainment Media.
