The Columbia Nano Initiative (CNI) at The Fu Foundation School of Engineering & Applied Science of Columbia University in the City of New York invites applications for an Associate Research Scientist position.

Job Description

The Associate Research Scientist will ensure leadership in field of Electrical Engineering research, specifically in the area of linear and nonlinear light propagation in silicon devices, the integration of passive and active optical elements on a chip-scale, frequency comb generation, and numerical modeling of complex systems.

The primary responsibility will be to develop, analyze and test novel silicon photonics-based lasers. In addition, this position will assist the Principal Investigators of the Lipson Nanophotonics Group and the Gaeta group with technical proposal preparation, reporting and providing guidance to students on their research projects.

The successful candidate will have expertise in photonics design, laboratory experiments and testing, simulation and modeling using dedicated software (e.g. Lumerical, Fimmwave).

Associate Research Scientists at Columbia SEAS are junior officers who have demonstrated innovation and excellence in research. Candidates are evaluated on research ability and required expertise.

Performs related duties as requested.

Minimum Qualifications:

Applicants must have a PhD degree in electrical engineering or related field.  At least 2 years of work experience are required, as well as a strong publication record.
