The position is embedded in the group of Prof. Stefan Dittmaier, and the candidate is expected to have expertise and experience in the field of precision calculations for particle colliders as well as a profound knowledge of particle phenomenology and quantum field theory.

Particle physics at the University of Freiburg comprises three theory working groups (Profs. Dittmaier, JProf. Vogl, and one to be filled soon, successing Prof. Ita's) and experimental ATLAS groups (Profs. Herten, Jakobs, and Schumacher). The theoretical and experimental groups are tied together within the DFG Research Training Group "Mass and Symmetries after the Discovery of a Higgs Particle at the LHC" and represent present-day particle physics with a broad scope.
