Harvey Mudd College invites applications for Adjunct Professors of Engineering for our general engineering program for the Spring 2022 semester (January – May). The Department of Engineering seeks candidates with experience and knowledge in applications of engineering who can excel at teaching in a broadly-based undergraduate curriculum focused on design, systems engineering, and engineering science. Applicants must have a demonstrated commitment to teaching excellence and professional growth. The candidate must have completed or be close to completing a Ph.D. or equivalent degree in engineering or a related field. Industrial or other practical experience in the field is valued.

The adjunct will teach one (or optionally more) of the following classes: E82 (Chemical and Thermal Processes), E83 (Continuum Mechanics), or E164 (Bioengineering). E82 and E83 are required core courses (sophomore/junior level) and reference teaching materials are available. E164 is an elective (junior/senior level) and may be adapted to the instructor’s particular expertise within the broad field.

Applicants should submit: a cover letter, a curriculum vitæ, and the names of at least three references. Candidates should provide evidence of excellence in teaching. For full consideration, applications should be received by November 5, 2021, but applications will be accepted until the position is filled.
