The MIT Statistics and Data Science Center at the Institute for Data, Systems, and Society is seeking applicants for a Postdoctoral Associate to perform independent research in Machine Learning and Applications, in the general area of theoretical ML with a focus on statistical and computational aspects of deep learning, equivariant neural networks, generalization, robustness, as well as applications in learning tasks in chemistry and physics. The postdoctoral fellow(s) will be mentored jointly by Boaz Barak (Harvard) and Alexander Rakhlin (MIT). The application deadline is December 15, 2021.
This will be a one-year appointments beginning on September 1, 2022 (or
earlier), with the possibility of renewal for a second year based upon
satisfactory performance. The second year may be based at Harvard
University.
Job Requirements: Required: a Ph.D. (expected or obtained) in statistics, engineering, computer science, mathematics, economics, operations research, or a related field; strong analytical and written communication skills; ability to work effectively in an interdisciplinary environment; and a commitment to participating in IDSS activities.
