The MIT Statistics and Data Science Center at the Institute for Data, Systems, and Society is seeking applicants for a Postdoctoral Associate in the area of reinforcement learning, with a focus on the theoretical foundations of RL and bandits (such as sample complexity and computationally efficient methods), as well as possible applications in neuroscience.

Applicants should have a solid background in probability and statistics/machine learning. The postdoctoral fellow will be mentored by Alexander Rakhlin (MIT).

The application deadline is December 15, 2021. This will be a one-year appointments beginning on September 1, 2022 (or earlier), with the possibility of renewal for a second year based upon satisfactory performance.

Job Requirements:

Required: a Ph.D. (expected or obtained) in statistics, engineering, computer science, mathematics, economics, operations research, or a related field; strong analytical and written communication skills; ability to work effectively in an interdisciplinary environment; and a commitment to participating in IDSS activities.
