Postdoctoral position in metabolic modeling at Duke University An NSF-funded postdoctoral position is available in the Schmid lab, Duke University Biology Department. A PhD is required, in fields including but not limited to bioengineering, genomics, biostatistics, microbiology, computer science, bioinformatics and/or related fields. Candidates with strong computational skills and background in microbial metabolism, metabolic network modeling, bioinformatics, genome sequencing, OMICS analysis, systems biology, optimization theory, computer programming are preferred. Clear evidence of past research productivity is required, and strong scientific and interpersonal communication skills are expected. Our lab values the ability to work together with colleagues and teach and mentor students from diverse backgrounds and perspectives. In the position, the successful candidate will use constraint-based metabolic modeling (e.g. flux balance analysis) to understand how natural and synthetic microbial communities interact metabolically to withstand stress and other perturbations.
