The Cornell Jeb E. Brooks School of Public Policy invites applications for a Lecturer or Senior Lecturer position in the areas of statistics, methods, data analysis and/or economics, starting mid-August 2023. This is a 9-month full-time appointment for two years with possibility of renewal, title to be commensurate with experience and qualifications. We seek a colleague to join our dynamic program and make strong teaching contributions in areas that support our core/foundational instruction.

The Brooks School of Public Policy is seeking an experienced instructor with a background in statistics and methodology to teach courses to undergraduates and masters students. Ability to teach courses in microeconomics, applied economics, and data analytics a plus. The successful applicant will also contribute to advising and communication. Additional opportunities for instruction in upper-level and professional development courses, summer session teaching, and distance learning opportunities are also available.

Qualifications: 

The successful candidate will have earned a PhD (or will soon earn a PhD) in economics, political science, sociology, public policy, health policy, or a related discipline; experience teaching undergraduate and/or professional, graduate students; evidence of ability to teach at the university level, oversee teaching assistants and internships, and develop and coordinate activities with other instructors.

The Brooks School of Public Policy, launched in September 2021, harnesses the university’s wide-ranging expertise in public policy teaching, research and engagement into a shared academic home. Various established policy-focused institutes and programs from across the university are part of the school, boosting its scholarship and outreach activities. The Brooks School is introducing new and expanded undergraduate, graduate, doctoral and professional public policy courses and degrees.  The School’s faculty, with expertise on every region of the world, apply a global, interdisciplinary and problem-oriented focus to a broad set of public policy issues.  Building upon existing and developing academic strengths at Cornell, the school’s core areas of focus include data science and technology policy; environmental and sustainability policy; health policy; human security; inequality and social policy; the politics and economics of development; and race, racism and public policy.
