The department of Theoretical Physics at the Jožef Stefan Institute is announcing a three year (2+1) postdoctoral position. It is funded for three years by the Slovenian national research agency through a research grant, led by Dr. Miha Nemevšek. The topic concerns theory and phenomenology of particle physics in the early universe and colliders, present and future.

The focus is on first order phase transitions, false vacuum decay, dark matter, thermal field theory and resulting gravitational waves. Collider studies involve the relation between triggering cosmological and laboratory signals in well defined frameworks, preferably related to neutrino mass origin. The selected candidate will have the opportunity to collaborate with the rest of the group and external experts.

The recipient will be hosted by the particle physics group in a dynamic environment with regular events: international workshops, group retreats, seminars and summer schools. The vibrant community of 6 senior + 2 junior faculty members, 4 postdocs, 5 PhD students (+ MsC, BsC and internships) and regular visitors, offers many opportunities for collaboration.

The funds cover the monthly salary, including pension and insurance, travel funds for workshops, visits and small equipment. The two year contract is expected to start in the fall of 2023. The extension for the third year will be decided after the end of the first year.

The applicants with a PhD should have background in quantum field theory, physics of the early universe, Monte Carlo simulations and BSM physics. The application consists of a research statement and a CV with a list of publications, as well as two or three letters of recommendation.

Preference is given to applicants submitting before December 1st 2022.
