    POSITION DESCRIPTION
    The Department of Mechanical Engineering at the University of California, Santa Barbara invites applications for a full-time faculty position with an anticipated start date of July 1, 2023 or later. The Department is seeking applications as part of an external, open-level search for a tenure-track Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, or Full Professor position with research in any area of Mechanical Engineering.

    Responsibilities include teaching at the undergraduate and graduate levels, recruitment and supervision of graduate students, and the development of an actively funded research program of the highest quality and impact.

    The department is especially interested in candidates who can contribute to the excellence and diversity of the academic community through research, teaching, and service. UCSB has been designated as a Hispanic-Serving Institution (HSI) and an Asian American Native American Pacific Islander-Serving Institution (AANAPISI) by the US Department of Education.

    QUALIFICATIONS
    Basic qualifications
    (required at time of application)
    A PhD in Mechanical Engineering or a related field by the time of application.

    Preferred qualifications
    -Demonstrated record of excellence in research, including high quality publications in top journals
    -Strong record of collaborative and interdisciplinary research
    -Teaching experience; a proven ability as an outstanding teacher is desired.
