| The high-energy nuclear group at Vanderbilt University is conducting a search for a postdoctoral position in nuclear theory. Research topics of interest include the general theory and phenomenology of heavy ion collisions [electromagnetic probes, thermalisation, parton energy loss, and other many-body QCD topics], Bayesian inference and emulation in nuclear physics, as well as applications of relativistic fluid dynamics to nuclear collisions. The candidate will be hired and mentored by Prof. Jean-François Paquet, and will be associated with the JETSCAPE Collaboration ( https://jetscape.org and https://jetscape.org/sims/ ) The candidate will have the opportunity to collaborate with the high-energy nuclear group at Vanderbilt, which also includes Profs Raghav Kunnawalkam Elayavalli, Victoria Greene and Julia Velkovska, as well as participate in the activities of the Vanderbilt Initiative for Gravity, Waves, and Fluids (VandyGRAF), a new collaborative effort between Vanderbilt University's Departments of Mathematics and Physics & Astronomy to work on problems of outstanding scientific merit in general relativity, fluid mechanics, PDE theory, and nuclear physics. The appointments will be annual with the expectation of renewal for two additional years subject to satisfactory performance. Research funds will be provided to support the scientific endeavors of the postdoctoral fellow.
