The McHenry Lab at Duke University (https://www.mchenry-lab.org) is seeking to hire a motivated Associate in Research to work in the lab. This grant-funded position is focused on establishing neural control systems for social and nonsocial forms of behavioral homeostasis in various genetic and autism mouse models. 

An individual dedicated to the computational needs of this proposal is required. The individual will engineer custom rigs (hardware and software programming), create analysis pipelines for calcium imaging and behavioral data sets, implement various new and open-source platforms and tailor them for the needs of the project, implement various forms of modeling for the behavioral and imaging data, and work closely with the rest of the team including mentorship and guidance from the PI and the labs' collaborators. This individual will assist with figures and manuscripts, and present these findings at conferences.

Work Performed: 
The Associate in Research will perform day-to-day tasks for data acquisition and analysis efforts, assemble figures, implement new pipelines, present research at conferences and local symposia, prepare peer-review manuscripts, maintain a GitHub, maintain clear and well documented reproducible codes, assist with data management and various computational needs of the lab, mentor and train others in the lab, and contribute to ongoing collaborations and team-based science. 

Requirements: 
Education: 
A Masters degree in one of the following or related fields: Neuroscience/Neurobiology, Biomedical Science, Biomedical Engineering. 

Experience: 
The ideal candidate will have a strong background in computer programming (e.g., MATLAB, Python) and statistics/modeling experience for biological datasets. The lab will provide training to specialize the skillset for the needs of the specific projects.
