Research Assistant/Associate
Theoretical Physics Group, Department of Physics, Imperial College London

Applications are invited for up to three Research Assistants/Associates to join the Theoretical Physics Group, Department of Physics at Imperial College London. The Group undertakes world-leading research in key areas of theoretical physics including string theory, quantum field theory, cosmology, quantum foundations and gravity and comprises of Dr Shai Chester, Prof Carlo Contaldi, Prof Claudia de Rham, Prof Fay Dowker, Prof Mike Duff, Dr Tim Evans, Prof Jerome Gauntlett, Prof Jonathan Halliwell, Prof Amihay Hanany, Prof Chris Hull, Prof Joao Magueijo, Prof Arttu Rajantie, Prof Kelly Stelle, Prof Andrew Tolley, Prof Arkady Tseytlin, Prof Daniel Waldram and Prof Toby Wiseman. 

The positions are to support the work of the String and Quantum Field Theory section of the Group. You should hold a PhD (or equivalent) in Theoretical Physics or a closely related discipline, either awarded or anticipated, or an equivalent level of professional qualifications and experience. You must also be able to demonstrate all the following essential criteria:
  • Outstanding research experience in string theory, quantum field theory, gauge-gravity duality, black holes, and/or related topics.
  • Experience in giving talks at internationally recognised conferences and workshops.
  • Experience in carrying out research of high quality, independently and in a team, with evidence provided by by a portfolio of high-quality research publications.
These are fixed-term positions for up to 24 months available from 1st October 2023 with a possibility of extension, subject to funding.
