The research group of Prof. Joaquin Rodriguez-Nieva invites applications for a postdoctoral research associate position in the Department of Physics and Astronomy at Texas A&M University. The successful candidate will conduct theoretical research at the interface between non-equilibrium statistical mechanics, quantum many-body dynamics, and quantum information. Topics of interest include, but are not limited to, 1) studying non-equilibrium quantum many-body phenomena realized in solid-state materials and in other emergent quantum platforms (cold atoms, ensembles of nitrogen-vacancy defects, etc.), 2) developing new theoretical frameworks and numerical tools to describe such phenomena, both from the lens of statistical mechanics and quantum information, and 3) studying the application of novel quantum sensing techniques, such as nitrogen-vacancy centers, to probe condensed matter systems. Candidates will be encouraged to engage with ongoing theoretical and experimental research at the Institute for Quantum Science and Engineering at Texas A&M.

A PhD in physics or a closely related field is required. Candidates with a strong background in non-equilibrium physics, many-body quantum theory, and/or expertise in computational methods are strongly encouraged to apply. The initial appointment will be for two years, with the possibility for a third year, depending on availability of funding. The start date of the appointment is flexible.

All applications must be submitted at https://jobs.tamu.edu for position R-056757 by uploading a single pdf with cover letter, CV with publications, a brief description of research interests, and names of at least two references with contact information. Review of applications will begin immediately and continue until the position is filled.

Interested applicants are encouraged to contact Prof. Rodriguez-Nieva directly at jrodrigueznieva@tamu.edu.
