*** this position has been closed and new applications are no longer accepted. ***

The group of Dr Yevgeny Bar Lev at Ben-Gurion University (BGU) is seeking a highly motivated PhD student with a keen interest in one or more of the following:
  • quantum disordered systems,
  • quantum many-body systems,
  • quantum chaos or thermalization
  • driven or open quantum systems,

The applicant is expected to have an MSc in physics. However, exceptional undergraduate students might be considered for the direct-track PhD program.

The applicant will be expected to work on topics within the broad interests of the group. The focus will be on dynamics and thermalization in quantum-constrained systems or other systems with weak ergodicity breaking.

The successful applicant will have a strong background in theoretical physics. Experience in numerical studies of many-body quantum systems and working with high-performance computing (HPC) clusters will be an advantage.

They will be expected to fulfil the requirements of the physics department for a PhD, contribute to the group's ongoing research, compose publications, participate in group meetings and seminars, and represent the group in conferences and workshops. They will also be expected to apply for competitive fellowships.

To apply, please submit a CV, a cover letter outlining your research interests and experience, and at least two reference letters. In addition, please upload grades transcripts from your MSc and BA/BSc studies and a document explaining the grades scales, if applicable. If you have participated in qualification exams for BA/MSc please add them too.

The position is for four years and offers a competitive fellowship and opportunities for professional development and career advancement.

Applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis until the position is filled. We look forward to receiving your application and exploring the potential for collaboration.
