The successful applicants will work with Prof. Zhi-Wei Wang and join one of the four following international research collaborations: 

1. (Dark) Phase Transition and Gravitational Wave in strongly coupled theory with collaborators Francesco Sannino at CP3-Origins and DIAS in Denmark and Roman Pasechnik at Lund university in Sweden. 

2. Asymptotic Grand Unification Models with collaborators Giacomo Cacciapaglia and Aldo Deandrea at Institut de Physique des 2 Infinis de Lyon (IP2I) and University of Lyon in France, Roman Pasechnik at Lund university and Francesco Sannino at CP3-Origins. 

3. Conformal Field Theory at Large Charge with collaborators Francesco Sannino at CP3-Origins and DIAS in Denmark and Oleg Antipin at Rudjer Boskovic Institute in Croatia. 

4. Using asymptotic safety in gauge theories to constrain beyond the Standard Model new physics with collaborators Francesco Sannino at CP3-Origins, Tom Steele at University of Saskatchewan in Canada and Robert Mann at Perimeter Institute in Canada. 

UESTC is one of the leading universities in China. It ranks 272 in U.S. News 2022 ranking and 151-200 in ARWU 2022 ranking. The theoretical physics institute at UESTC is growing quickly in recent years. It currently contains 4 full professors (one in Hadronic Physics, two in string theory and CFT including one foreign professor, Zhi-Wei Wang in beyond the Standard Model new physics). There is also one associate professor (in Hadronic Physics) as well as one new coming associate professor on dark matter theory. 

 

We will offer successful candidates highly competitive salary for roughly 200000 RMB per year (26900 Euro/28350 USD). The tax is roughly 22000RMB. Moreover, the successful candidates will be offered research funding 10000RMB (1353 Euro) per year. In addition, the university will provide successful candidates with free full furnished postdoctoral apartment. Extra bonus may be provided depends on the candidates’ research output. 

Successful candidates can also join regular faculty (permanent) position competition every year. In addition, excellent candidates can apply the university talented program. If successfully enrolled, he/she will be offered a permanent faculty position and directly appointed as a full professor with starting research grant at UESTC.

Candidates who have background on theoretical particle physics phenomenology or formal perspective are encouraged to apply. Candidates who have both phenomenology and (partially) formal background are highly appreciated.
