The Duke Quantum Center (DQC) is seeking highly qualified candidates for the role of Research Scientist to design and build a new ion trap quantum computer in consultation with several DQC faculty members. This is a rare opportunity for career advancement in quantum computing hardware in an open academic environment. The system we build will compete in performance with commercially available systems and have the flexibility for new capabilities and applications of an academic experiment. After the system is built and characterized, we also offer the opportunity to use the new hardware for scientific discovery. The DQC is located in the heart of Durham, North Carolina, USA. Durham is a vibrant, diverse, and fast-growing city with a celebrated food scene, an award-winning performing arts center, and a buzzing startup culture.
