|As part of a new collaborative research initiative in quantum sciences and technology, Duke University’s Quantitative Initiative, the Department of Physics, and the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering seeks up to three exceptional, collaborative, and creative scientists and engineers to join its faculty in tenured/tenure-track positions. Exceptionally qualified candidates will be considered for a Chaired Professorship position. We invite applications from researchers with an outstanding track record in the fundamental research and/or technology developments related to quantum sciences broadly defined.
Candidates should hold a PhD or equivalent degree in an experimental or quantitative discipline. Applications in all areas of quantum sciences and technology are encouraged. We are particularly interested in scientists and engineers working in one or more of the following areas: (1) experimental AMO or condensed matter physics relevant to quantum sciences (2) technology development relevant to quantum information sciences, or (3) quantitative analyses of complex quantum systems, quantum algorithms or applications.
We strongly encourage applications from scientists with a demonstrated interest in collaborative research. Successful candidates will synergize with existing strengths at Duke in engineering, physics, materials science, computer science, mathematics and chemistry. Secondary appointments, joint appointments, or affiliations may be arranged with relevant departments, schools and centers on campus as appropriate. The collaborative nature of the new initiative will provide successful candidates with access to exceptional resources on campus, such as shared fabrication facility, collaborative workspace, computing infrastructure, and other strong multidisciplinary partnerships in materials, photonics, and information sciences.
