The Center for Health Policy and Research a division of Commonwealth Medicine (CWM) in the University of Massachusetts Medical School is seeking applicants for the position of Associate Director of Research and Evaluation. CWM, the Medical Schoolâ€™s public consulting arm, offers a unique blend of academic excellence and health service expertise. This combination allows us to provide health care solutions for the public sector and not-for profit organizations. Our services have helped Massachusetts and many other state and local health care agencies increase the value and quality of health care expenditures, and improve access and delivery of care to at-risk and uninsured populations.
The successful candidate will work with the Director of Research and Evaluation to design and oversee rigorous studies using a variety of research methods and provide scientific oversight for projects within the Research and Evaluation Unit. Other duties include, working with staff to prepare and submit manuscripts for publication in peer-reviewed journals, and preparing proposals for external research funding.
Qualifications include a Ph.D. in health policy, health services research, economics, public health, biostatistics or a related research field, with a minimum of five years experience in designing and performing research. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record as a researcher/evaluator; experience in methodology appropriate for health services/policy research; directing complex research projects focusing on applied public policy issues or underserved populations with a sound understanding of Medicaid programs and populations. An established history of publication in peer-reviewed journals is required. Successful grant writing experience is strongly preferred.
Qualified candidates will receive a faculty appointment at the University of Massachusetts Medical School and be involved in educational and other academic activities.
