The Department of Neurobiology and Behavior invites applications for two Lecturer positions, starting as August 2017. Successful candidates will teach physiology and neurobiology to undergraduates in B.S. and B.A. programs in the life sciences: a core offering is a large-enrollment, introductory physiology lecture course that uses scientific teaching and active learning methods in both conventional and “flipped” formats. They will also teach, together with current faculty, in advanced undergraduate courses, including a capstone lab course for a Neuroscience specialization within the Biology major. Applicants should have strong foundational knowledge in biology with depth in neurobiology or physiology, and a proven record of effective undergraduate teaching, especially with students from diverse backgrounds. They will effectively engage students in both large- and small-enrollment courses, and will work with an active, collaborative group of research and instructional faculty to develop and implement innovative, evidence-based pedagogy in the life sciences. The positions offer an exceptional opportunity for career development in science education, at an institution that is a national leader in advancing undergraduate student success and economic mobility.
