Position Description:

*** The account for School of Physics and Astronomy, Shanghai Jiao Tong University has expired, and no new applications will be accepted. ***

The Institute for Nuclear and Particle Physics (INPAC) at Shanghai Jiao Tong University (SJTU), China invites applications for 2 postdoctoral researcher positions to work on the PandaX experiments. We welcome highly motivated applicants who have obtained a Ph.D. degree or who are expecting one prior to starting the position, in nuclear physics, particle physics, or a related field. The initial appointment is for 2 years with possible renewal. We offer a competitive salary commensurate with qualifications and subsidized housing options through the university. We also offer assistance in applying for the prestigious "T.D. Lee Postdoctoral Fellowship" and “Chung-Yao Chao Postdoctoral Fellowship” for additional benefits.

One position is in the area of neutrino experimental physics. The successful candidates will participate in the PandaX-III program, a neutrinoless double-beta decay experiment using high pressure xenon gas Time Projection Chamber with 200 kg of Xe-136 isotope. The appointee is expected to play a key role in the design and construction of the PandaX-III detector.

Another position is in the area of dark matter experimental physics. The successful candidates will participate in the PandaX-4T project, which is the upgrade plan of current PandaX-II dark matter experiment with 4-ton liquid xenon in the detector sensitive volume.

Applicants should provide a CV, a brief research statement, a list of publications and three letters of recommendation. Prior hardware experiences with rare-event searches, detector R&D (e.g. noble liquid/gas detectors, liquid scintillator detectors etc.), electronics and/or ultra-low radioactive background control will be worthy of mentioning.

Inquires of the position shall be sent to Prof. Ke Han <>, Prof. Ning Zhou <> and Prof. Xiangdong Ji <>.

The review of application will begin immediately and last until the position is filled.

INPAC ( has about twenty faculty members working on the frontiers of fundamental science researches in nuclear and particle experiments and theories. Other neutrino projects we are involved in include JUNO and CUORE. English is the working language at the institute and non-Chinese-speaking candidates are welcome to apply.
