Georgia State University (GSU) is a leading urban research University located in the heart of Atlanta, the cultural center of the south and a hub for health care organizations with national and international reach. GSU leadership at the highest level is committed to growing the University faculty and reputation through a focus on interdisciplinary research and academic collaboration across the traditional academic boundaries. As one of the first initiatives to be funded under this new strategic direction, GSU’s Robinson College of Business and College of Law were awarded an interdisciplinary cluster hire of new faculty (1 in the College of Business, 2 in the College of Law) around the research theme of the legal and ethical governance of businesses in healthcare, life sciences, and biotechnology markets. Another position awarded to a separate interdisciplinary cluster with GSU’s Robinson College of Business (Health Administration and Computer Information Systems) and The Andrew Young School of Policy Studies will focus on health information management and technology throughout the healthcare sector, and successful candidates will have an earned doctorate and research agenda appropriate for this research area. Those hired under this initiative will have support at the highest levels of the University (President and Provost) to build a collaborative research agenda and strengthen cross disciplinary academic programs in a manner that enhance the reputation of the University and the participating Colleges.
