The Peter O’Donnell Jr. School of Public Health and the Simmons Comprehensive Cancer Center at the UT Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas, Texas invites applications for faculty members across all ranks who have a commitment to outstanding graduate education in biostatistics. We welcome innovative scholars who will conduct research for publication in journals and collaborate on projects in medicine, public health, developing methodological development, and population-based cancer research. This tenure-track position will serve as a core faculty member for the cancer center core.

Qualified candidates should have a doctoral degree in biostatistics, statistics, or a closely related field or related field with excellent oral and written communication skills. Candidates with a record of extramural grant support, excellence in teaching, community collaboration, and public sector experience are highly preferred, especially in health care or academic medical center environments. Appointment rank and track will be commensurate with academic accomplishments and experience. Consideration may be given to applicants seeking less than a full-time schedule.

The Peter O’Donnell Jr. School of Public Health will provide unique academic and research opportunities within a culturally rich environment that has Dallas ranked No. 4 in diversity among U.S. cities. The 7.8 million people in the Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex reside in 13 counties across 9,000 square miles. The majority-minority population is 41 percent Hispanic and 25 percent African American. Close to 20 percent of our region’s population are foreign born, speak Spanish only, and lack health insurance.

UT Southwestern is establishing a 21st-century School of Public Health cemented in its core research strengths and reinforced through integral collaboration with area institutions and health systems. UTSW has more than 2,800 full-time faculty who garner more than $524 million in annual grant funding for research. UTSW’s outstanding Department of Population and Data Sciences, with more than $8 million in research funding annually and emerging leadership in population health, will serve as the foundation for building the new school.

The UTSW Medical District spans 230 acres in Dallas. Through its own and affiliated health systems – Parkland Health & Hospital System, Children’s Health, Texas Health Resources, the VA North Texas Health Care System, and Texas Scottish Rite for Children – UTSW physicians are central to the care of millions of residents in North Texas.
